A website dedicated to Glykeria, offered by the music collector and expert in the good music Maki Roussomani.
"Night-in-gale of the Greek nation". In this way the Ecumenical Patriarch received Glykeria when she came on the stage in a concert in Turkey, on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, on the 20th of March, 2005!!!
"Not even men would easily dare sing Kazantzidis' and Bithikotsis' songs!! The only woman who does that and in an excellent way is Glykeria". This is what Theodorakis said of Glykeria in ET1, on the 1st of October, 2005.
"She is a great singer who undoubtedly can compare only with Alexiou and Vitali!! She is so great that she is even ahead of them many times". This is what George Dalaras said in the TV programme "Kita ti ekanes" (Look what you've done) in 2004.
1974: Public television. The programme: "Na I efkeria" (this is THE chance). A young girl sings the "zeibekiko" of a man with the maturity of a woman. " Nichtose horis fegari" (It got dark and there is no moon). She is called Glykeria.
1999: At the Syntagma Square. The reason for this event: "Solidarity to Otsalan".
A young woman is singing the same "zeibekiko" with the innocence of a girl. It is Glykeria.
25 years later...
When the three women came on the stage silence fell. A song filled the air. - An Israeli woman, a Palestinian woman and a Greek woman. They were singing for peace. A Jew, a Muslim and an Orthodox said the prayer of all mothers. Glykeria was the Greek singer. Israel-1997
GLYKERIA
"For the last 36 years only by listening to your voice can I be in heaven...
My best regards to Feirouz of Greece.
To the first lady who is able to go up the scales of music so easily as a the flying of a night-in-gale.
This is what I said, what I am saying and what I will always believe.
